In a very impressive piece of writing, Vince Tula takes us on a journey through a world of oppression and anxiety that, rather closely in many ways, resembles the culture currently surrounding us. Imaginative and innovative, Pit of Hope charts a unique course in storytelling that just hit every beat for me. The characters are all cogs in the machine that are revealed on multiple levels, as every character fits the dysfunctional society from one angle or another; and at some point every character, I believe, says something to the effect of, "I can't go on like this."...

Pit of Hope hit me right in my heart! The performances were top notch across the board, the message was salient without being preachy, and the set design was powerful without being overwhelming. As an Eaton Fire survivor who also lost their soul dog last year (to old age, don't worry! He had a great life), there was no way I was getting out of this show without bawling. I was so incredibly uplifted by the end and riveted throughout. You'll laugh, cry, and want to hug your dog very tightly after this one!...

Pit of Hope is a gripping and thought-provoking production that uses theatrical metaphor with exceptional creativity and purpose. The storytelling is bold and imaginative while remaining grounded in themes that feel urgent and socially relevant.
The production succeeds because it trusts its audience while still delivering a compelling emotional journey. The imagery, performances, and central ideas work together beautifully to create a show that stimulates both the intellect and the heart. I found myself thinking about its themes long after leaving the theatre. This is ambitious, meaningful work executed with tremendous skill and confidence....

This show is what you hope for when going to see local theatre. While heart wrenching and thoughtful, it’s not without warmth and levity. This show let’s the audience see contemporary issues, not just within the animal care system but society, at a much more human level. ...

Equal parts heartbreaking, strange, political, and unexpectedly touching. It was a dark and surreal look at loyalty, fear, aging, and what happens when society decides some souls no longer matter.
