Bizarre, delightful, and highly interactive. Be sure to sit in the first two rows! ;) This was my first ever clown show, so I didn't really know what to expect, which is the best way to experience Alex's craft to be honest, so don't read too many reviews!! Just go see it for yourself! He and the team achieve a lot with minimal props and costumes, so the performance, lighting, and clearly defined characters carry a lot of the show. Incorporating aspects of one's heritage is always a vulnerable endeavor, but Alex uses our familiarity with Japanese media tropes (emphasis on the Hollywood in Hollywood Fringe) to poke fun at the absurdity of figuring who the heck you are.... full review

Alex Nauta crushes once again. The show is full of games that a lot of performers could not pull off. He's so comfortable in both characters during the show that you can tell he's put a lot of thought and craft into making this show what it is today. He's so loose on stage and whenever something doesn't go how he's expecting it to he laughs at it which is so fun to watch. You GOTTA see this thing. ... full review

I went to the first and final shows. I thought it was great the first time and then on the final show it was completely different. There were some new bits added that made the show super enjoyable to watch. It was a PACKED house and it was fun how Alex was able to incorporate the audience into the show. I brought some friends over and they thought that it was a a fun time and asked me to invite them more to things like this. Much love. Ya'll did great. Shogun is beyond great. Funny and serious, if you think you ever have it figured out you are wrong. Technical and stupid (in the best way), playful, beautiful and sad. In me, and I bet in you, he creates or discovers a desire to see things you didn’t know you needed or craved, and as you think that itch might be left to remain it is delighted in captivating and creative ways. I had such a great time at this show. It's weird, hilarious, and constantly catches you off guard. The music and costume were delightful. It definitely pushes you outside your comfort zone in the best way, and I loved every second of it.... full review
