Absurd, vulnerable, fun. Edib doesn't let anything slip through the cracks, creating a sense of play with the audience where the audience also feels held. They've created such a unique, surreal world where the audience can play, while also sharing their story in a way for the audience to connect and examine they're own experiences. Edib is an artist.
I'm still thinking about this show....

Hands down my favorite show at Fringe. Edib is completely locked into the audience from start to finish. You can feel them responding in real time. The concept of an intergalactic bathhouse is wildly inventive, and the impression of the ancestor absolutely steals the show. It's funny, heartfelt, and so thoughtfully put together. Every element feels intentional, and it all comes together beautifully....

This is what I want the future of theater to be. The play allowed it self to be fun while also being so rooted in the truth. I am always afraid to be front row on comedy show, but Edib's performances holds you, pushes you and reminds you to keep going. There are some really powerful lines and moments in there that will stay with me for a long time. The first crowd work in a wild where I felt like I was discovering along with the artist. Such creative bits too. ...

Edib is so, so talented! They are able to deftly balance clowning, humor, audience interaction, and the underlying deeper storytelling around grief, intergenerational trauma, diaspora, connection to ancestores, and the role of art in times of extreme oppression and violence. The fact that the piece feels like a hilarious comedy while also touching on such intense themes is really a testament to their skills....

I didn't realize just how much I needed to hear the words Edib channeled via ancestry and performance until said words had already hit my heart, hard. Syrian Soap makes me feel like I can belong in this space of comedy and performance--it's already had an immensely encouraging effect on my relationship to art. I hope I can keep engaging with performances like this for years and years to come....

An incredibly funny and heartwarming show! Edib transforms into this character and holds us in the palm of her hand. This is what we want in a solo clown show - nuance, hilarity, heartbreak. One of the best shows I've seen. ...

What a fantasticly created piece! Funny and exciting and filled with heart! Not a second was wasted and yet I felt no pressure on the structure of the show. It flowed so freely and that added to the freedom the audience felt. It had so much heart and yet never took itself to seriously. I cried multiple times- especially in moments I least expected to. ...

You will not stop thinking about Edib Farhan's beautiful and bubbly intergalactic "Syrian Soap" for a long time to come. This hilarious and charming show, which is part clown, stand up and improv, explores ancestry and politics, keeping its darker roots under cover and well-soaked in comedy, not unlike the political satires and absurdist theatre of Post -WWII. One of this Fringe's finest pieces of theatre....
