About the Project

G is a contemporary one-act comedy about creative ambition, identity, and the seductive promise of belonging.

Set over the course of one night in a rented Airbnb, the play follows a group of recent college graduates reuniting after attending what they believe to be an elite creative writing workshop. As wine is poured and party games unfold, small inconsistencies begin to surface. One friend describes being isolated without his phone. Another recalls trauma-dumping exercises. Someone else felt inspired, supported, and changed. Slowly, it becomes clear that their experiences don’t quite align—and that the workshop may not be what they thought it was.

Told through fast-paced, overlapping dialogue, G captures the rhythms of real conversation: jokes interrupting honesty, defensiveness masking vulnerability, and laughter arriving just before discomfort. While the premise flirts with the language of cults and wellness culture, the play remains grounded in humor, focusing on the absurdities of creative validation, performative self-awareness, and the pressure to “find your voice” in spaces that quietly define it for you.

At the center of the story is Ganesh, a young Indian-American writer navigating internalized expectations around race, name, and visibility within predominantly white creative environments. Rather than offering easy answers, G asks how identity is shaped in community—and what it costs to belong.

Intimate, funny, and unsettling, G invites audiences to laugh first, then reflect on the systems they participate in every day, and the courage it takes to finally say your own name out loud.
