What I liked

Kellie Pleshinger’s is spectacular. Her writing was reminiscent of the TV show “The Haunting in Bly Manor” her monologues were poetic as well as tragic and I couldn’t help but feel empathy towards Nessa despite how people spoke about her in the funeral.

The directing was also pretty impressive. The blocking was very thoughtful, the use of space. The sound and lighting design that added that spooky feeling.

The ghost craft was so good. It’s hard to do horror in theater, let alone Fringe when time is so limited, and Kellie managed to do an excellent work bringing us into Nessa’s ghostly perspective.

Lacey Buchanan was fantastic as Nessa. She commanded the stage and her performance was so complex. The betrayal, confusion, anger, sadness, guilt, grief, all combined into a tour-de-force performance.

I love how this subtly explored mental health issues. Was Nessa unknowable because she was depressed? Was Nessa depressed because people didn’t know the real her? This really resonated with me.

My overall impression

An intelligent, layered exploration about who we are vs who people remember us as that as the question “can people truly ever know us”.
Through varied and at times conflictive narratives about the lead, writer Kellie Pleshinger’s creates a mournfully tragic ghost story that is excellently written, directed and performed.
One of my favorite pieces this Fringe! A must watch!
