“Things We Said Tonight” is a one-act play that opens with a chance encounter between a Republican congresswoman in her 50s and a gay male liberal playwright in his late 30s. They “meet” at an abandoned restaurant in downtown Los Angeles in 2025. Despite their ideological and chronological differences the two form an unlikely bond. Indeed, the similarities they discover between a life in politics and a life in the arts propel what appears to be a budding friendship. All is going well until a stranger with malovelent intentions enters the space.
