Having done many Fringes, I’ve learned that shows reliant on audience interaction are extremely hard to do well. It’s very easy to accidentally make someone uncomfortable or embarrass them or to come across as pleading — it always sucks when the performer tries to pry interaction out of someone who doesn’t want to play or make them the butt of a joke and put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
Luckily, Molly is top-notch at audience interaction, not only able to astutely judge people’s relative comfort levels, but also come up with activities that are fun and clever and add to the show in various ways. Also she is very funny and has never met a bit she couldn’t commit to, making Fucking Famous an absolute fever dream of entertainment that one would be remiss to skip out on this Fringe
What I didn't like
I’m sorry I was so bad with the shoes please don’t fire me
My overall impression
Equal parts hilarious, impressive, and psychotic, Molly Sharpe has created another banger of a solo show that is pure fun from beginning to end, this time in the guise of a troubled ditzy popstar. It takes someone very smart to make something this unhinged and outwardly idiotic and I am just enamored with Molly’s performance capabilities
