My overall impression

CAVEAT: I met Young Danny last year and watched him build the beta version of what became the final Man Up to Love production. Factor that in as you read on.

Danny Ledsinger is so charming, polite and unpretentious just standing in front of you being himself that it’s very difficult to imagine he ever had a problem with reeling in the ladies. But in this brutally honest and hilarious confessional of sorts, Ledsinger explains why he was lucky to have ever gotten laid at all, let alone find love.

It’s an episodic journey, combining a bit of frat boy hard R-rating humor with touching revelations that have nothing to do with the Joke but are just as funny.

I think this show would greatly appeal to late-teens to 20-something young men, along with the women of the same age bracket who cruelly play them like game pieces. Older folks might find peeking through the window of his experience fascinating. Either group, it’s a lot of fun.

The show would benefit from a touch of staging to pull it away from a near stand-up format and into environment a bit, to help the audience move with him through his evolution.
