Roz has a gift for talking about the specific experience of blackness while also inviting everyone in the room to the table. Her story of belonging, of tribe, of knowing who you are is universal and she made everyone in the room feel welcome to hear it.
What I didn't like
no notes! It was superb!
My overall impression
From the first moment Roz greeted us onstage I knew I was going to enjoy this show. She is engaging and generously makes herself accessible to the room as a storyteller. We feel we are right there with her, when she nods at her neighbors, takes a trip to Africa, eats a bad dose of tiger ball soup. . .we are right there with her. In Search of Black People is a hilarious, but meaningful journey back to the center of the self.
