“Freedom in Limbo” is a disturbing, moving, and necessary autobiographical solo play by Mozhdeh Rahmanzaei. Through her own story, from her early years defending her artistic aspirations in Iran to very unfavorable parents, to her battle for an education in the U.S. and her fight to stay in the country, Rahmanzaei gives a voice to the students silenced in her home country. The show opens with haunting projections of murdered Iranian artists and presents statistics that are genuinely staggering. It is a powerful, entertaining, and profoundly emotional experience that brought me to tears.
