Glorified Disasters

One of the best solo shows of this Fringe. Ashley Strand goes deeper into character, further into absurdity and weaves a more complex narrative than most, but he sure doesn't skimp on the comedy. What started out as a promising trilogy of tales unfortunately deteriorated into a dark story of poor choices. From the start of the second story, it all went downhill, and though the third story had promise, it couldn't pull this show back from the abyss. The show has funny moments, but overall it needs work. In addition, while the first two stories carry a similar theme, the third story seems to come from left field and does nothing to further that theme.... full review

A laugh out loud,tight, keenly observed and acerbic performance by Ashley Strand. A collection of three stories that invite us to share in and laugh at, among other things, our own thoughts on consumerism, loneliness and shame. Ashley is all at once diabolical, honest, and vulnerable. Really enjoyed myself.... full review

Totally charming, completely inappropriate, and utterly hilarious... I had a blast. It's like a full-on roller-coaster ride of storytelling that alternately has you loving him, hating him, feeling sorry for him, and wanting him to succeed. The guy telling the stories (Ashley Strand) has a great eye for observation and a great way of driving home his points with both humor and humility. He tells three separate stories that all center on the choices we make in our lives and how those choices affect who we are and what we become. Self-depricating, bust-a-gut, no-BS truth.
