In the talk back, they said, they are not perfect and they let go of that concept in their life and performance. I love the freedom in that. Chasing perfection is a recipe for insanity.
And I love they found the humor in the struggle. Creating queer, stories makes us all feel seen.
What I didn't like
For me all solo shows are in constant development. I’ve done my solo show over 200 times and it’s always different and always evolving. It hits me deeper or funnier or the audience takes me to different places. I’m sure “King” will be also. They’re comfortable in their skin and that’s the take-a-way. Cheers to you!
My overall impression
It was very cool. Fun & informative. I was literally the only guy in the audience. It’s a trans story and i had very little real understanding of or gave much thought too. Besides my core belief there’s a place in this world for all of us and we all deserve to be honored for who we are.
The universal journey to discovering who you are & who you’re not, to your parents, peers and yourself is familiar territory as a queer human. I liked taking their ride.
