The concept and plot. A lot of the songs are really great. And I like that it was overtly bilingual.
What I didn't like
I didn’t see in the description that it was heavily in Spanish, if I’d known I wouldn’t have taken my boyfriend because his knowledge of Spanish is not sufficient for a show like this. Are there translations in the digital program? If not, maybe add them. If so, at the beginning when the actors are chatting with the audience could you add that in to telling the audience about it that way they can be read beforehand. Or maybe you can have projections of the translations? Operas offer real-time translations. It’s easy for an audience to check-out if they can’t understand what’s being said, and I think that’s a disservice to your work. Well done!
My overall impression
This was a lovely, heartfelt show. A conversational knowledge of Spanish will be helpful to stay engaged in the show. All songs are in Spanish and partial dialogue is in Spanish. Very few of the songs push plot, so you won’t miss much story. But just so you know what you’re getting into.
