About the Project
In Los Angeles’ barrios, family reigns supreme. The Reyes family is no different. Their family-run dive bar, Cuarto Dorado, is a place where secrets and sorrows are brokered, tragedies and triumphs are shared. Cuarto Dorado is a place where dreams are born- and where they go to die, all in a family and community where the men take, but the women rule and rise to the top in this uplifting musical steeped in magical realism, family, tradition, dysfunction, and breaking the cycle of abuse.
