What I liked

The Humor. The High School Love. His honesty in food issues, his honesty in other addition issues, and his bravery!

What I didn't like

Leaving a stage in a solo show doesn’t seem to add any thing. Maybe that is just me. Perhaps, Ben could turn around to let a few bars of the music play to separate his stories. Fringe audiences understand if you need water, towels what ever the performer needs on stage with them is OK with us.

My overall impression

My Testimony starring Ben Johnson is a very Brave solo show that is Funny in parts, a bit shocking in parts & enlightening in how trauma can be pass down in generations. In this case, the inherited trauma has found some Healing, Truth & Humor being raised by parents who spent way too much time at church. His parents demanded too much of this 10 year old who only wanted to go home to see his beloved Star Trek! Yet, this isn’t a religious show that one may be worried about. Instead, here we have camp fires stories that you may want to retell. Yet, nobody would be able to tell them like Ben.

Stand outs in Ben Johnson’s performance were his use of an Act Outs such as the lady who was trying her best to guide him to get him in the last dorm room available on campus! You will also see Some of Ben’s writing will take your mind spinning wanting to remember it. Home spun in a very good way!

And I agree that some of these down home stories are very compelling!

Love gives us many stories, & his stories are certainly worth telling. This brave out of towner could use a HFF25 welcome!
