The message that I took away from the show is that people who are artist, do it for more than just money/status. How focusing on just money, fame, status, negative opinions, expectations, etc… can cloud actual expression, creation, connection and art. Touching on the people who have the talent but focus so much on the status that they lose the creation/art side of their art and realizing that sure they are doing their art…but why? For who?
How lacking confidence to let your talents shine through is determinate to the artist, as the artist’s job is to create, express and connect.
The trap of starting out with good intentions can lead anyone down a path (if they don’t keep their head and feet) that they weren’t intending which can compromise why they started in the first place.
I really enjoyed exploring all these concepts!
What I didn't like
Overall I really enjoyed the show, the pace was a little slow in spots. I think 10-15 minutes could have been tightened. However, that is something that I can overlook/forgive as Fringe is a playground for new works. The core of this show is solid, entertaining, humorous and has depth. This team should be very proud!
My overall impression
A very talented group of artists! I loved seeing different talents and skills in the vast discipline that is creation, expression and art! The entire cast gave charming performances.
There was some immersive theatre before and during the show. I enjoyed interacting with Joe before the show started. It gave a community feel, encouraging people to engage with each other (yes with strangers lol) verse just looking in our programs or phones.
