Pippin is my husband’s all-time favorite show. I’ve seen it more times than I can remember. This Hollywood Fringe production is easily my favorite so far. The production sparkles with sexy, playful energy that’s impossible to resist. It’s the best I’ve seen at Fringe so far this year. I’ll edit my review if I see anything better but so far this is the best....

This production of Pippin is a Hollywood fever dream set to 70s Pop-rock. The creative team at Jaxx has always been very ambitious and this is no exception. Seating only about 50 audience members, the whole room is the front row and they use every inch of available space. The cast is huge (I think I counted 20 humans total) and they’re all singing/dancing/acting their sequin covered butts off. Admittedly… I’m still not sure I understand the plot of Pippin at all… but I don’t care. The music was good, the singing was stellar, and the dancing was wild. At one point they lift Berthe into the air and flip her like a pancake WHILE she’s singing. It’s jawdropping...

So excited I finally got to see Pippin! Definitely a show I’d wanted to see for a while and I’m so glad JAXX took it on! They’re known for their insane choreo numbers and this was no exception. Killer ensemble work and the leads were excellent. It’s definitely a more modern take on Pippin, but I really enjoyed it! This theater always puts on a great, high quality production. ...

As directed and choreographed by Jeremy Lucas, Pippin has become a cautionary tale about “Tinsel Town” and the hazards of life in the fast lane. The show does Schwartz and Hirson proud, pays homage to Fosse, and succeeds in being entertaining from start to finish....
