About the Project
Back in the Old Country, jealous fairies steal a human child and replace it with one of their own: a creature made to look and sound almost exactly like the one taken… but not quite human. This being causes endless suffering for its “mother”—but does it mean to? And where does it really belong? Changeling is a clown-y exploration of a very dark, very Irish fairy tale about “problem children”—and problem parents.
Part of the Elysian Theater’s Spaghetti Festival 2024, Changeling has been likened to “a slumber party where the kid shows you their dad’s gun collection” (Chad Damiani).
