My overall impression

Me Rich You Learn is an impressive collaboration between director Turner Munch, artistic director and producer Jeremy Aluma, assistant director Raymond Lee, actors Zachary Steele and Adam Carpenter. The timing, the physical choreography and spontaneity, as well as the willingness to play with the audience were all impeccable coming from Mr. Steele and Mr. Carpenter. I was really impressed with how the actors used the audience, encouraging the collective energy and also really letting themselves be at our mercy. I loved the moments of surprise, especially the “weighing” of an audience member on Mr. Steele’s stomach! Mr. Carpenter also shines in his character Martin Almond, especially in the very beginning with the beaming support of his friend TR Hamer: his moments of glee, his physical discomfort, his self conscious facial expressions and full body gestures – the whole recipe is hysterical. I was double over in laughter several times. The care that has gone into the creation of these two characters is stupendous. I did wish I got hear a bit of the tax spiel, just a bit! But that’s also what keeps the show going at such a marvelous pace. EXTENSION!!
