My overall impression

I have never seen a Four Clowns show that I didn’t leave with a face sore from smiling, and this one did not disappoint. Zach Steele and Adam Carpenter — or rather TR and Martin, respectively — play off each other with a level of the classic funny man/straight man routine only achieved by a pair who’s worked together for many years (as they have). Steele’s commitment to the grinning swagger of TR Hamer is completely infectious, and Carpenter creates such affection for the character of Martin Almond. Every darted eye, every deadpan response, every sulky retort… and I’ll stop there because I don’t want to give away the end… but Martin’s whole journey is so fun to behold.

Four Clowns founder Jeremy Aluma certainly has a knack for snagging the right talent into his jolly troupe, and director Turner Munch knocks it out of the park once again. I could have watched those knuckleheads all night. And they are all to blame the next time I ask someone, “What did you have for pizza, hot dogs??” Thanks for the marshmallows, fellas…
