This show is an absolute must see! Brenda brings to life an age-old tradition from classic performance art and blends it (pun intended) with a tale about her life that is so full of heart and emotion. A beautiful tale about processing your father's death... even when he hasn't been a very good person. ...

I got the chance to see the show in a workshop iteration a few months ago and found it fascinating in so many ways. And thankfully, I got the chance to catch this Fringe production, and I am so stoked. BK is reimaging the idea of processing grief -- and without spoiling, it makes me laugh, makes me feel uncomfortable, and also makes me love every moment of her journey -- all while processing her grief with her. Definitely a Fringe-y show worth a look!...

Using a blender to drink nasty cocktails and a paper shredder could come off as a cheap gimmick that gets old about 5 minutes into the show…but not with B.K. Wong’s “Saftey Stew”! This show is one of the best examples of performance art that really tugs at your heart strings. I thought the pacing, the story, costuming, and overall performance was very genuine. B.K. never over acts which created such intimacy for the performance....

So gross yet so good. Heartfelt with a message that I really resonated. Don't eat the shit that shitty people serve, instead savior the flavors of joy that those who love you cook with heart. Brenda is genuine and I loved spending the time with her and her story...

Surprisingly heartwarming, Safety Stew explores grief's 5 stages and how it transforms over time via a blender. BK uses this analogy very cleverly, and the physical comedy from the "smoothies" she makes gets a visceral reaction out of the audience every time. I very much appreciate BK's signature raw and vulnerable storytelling style....

Such a great rollercoaster you never want to get off! Dealing with grief never feels good but then here comes BK making it way more simpler. The story was powerful as it took you through lows and highs, BK manages one moment to pull at your heart strings and the next make you burst out laughing at some really dark stuff. Great way to process grief. ...

Very moving and funny. Also viscerally gross but that was intentional....
