I am always so impressed by Kayla’s authenticity with both of her shows. She clearly did her homework on Ann Miller and created a three-dimensional, genuine and vulnerable character. I thought the performance was tracing and really took me back in time with just a simple chair, some sound cues and of course Kayla’s captivating performance and writing....

Kayla Boye is a powerhouse performer whose ability to step inside the soul of her characters will astound you, beginning from her intimately revealing portrayal of legendary Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor in 2022 to her current tour-de-force performance as Hollywood and Broadway dancing icon Ann Miller. Very entertaining show about tap dancing icon Ann Miller. Author and star Kayla Boyd knows her stuff and she also nails Ann Miller’s Texan accent and speaking rhythm. Lots of appreciation for her subject, a well spent hour. ...

Apparently, the A Train traveled from deep in the heart of Texas to Hollywood to Broadway to Sugar Hill in Harlem. So, take the A Train and boog it to see Shake It Away: The Ann Miller story. You’ll hear gorgeous Kayla Boye (as Ann Miller) sing and rhythmically tap dance through a succession of colorful stories told in a perfect 1940s accent, including the chance childhood encounter with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson that changed her life and her late-night showbiz adventures with bosom buddy Lucille Ball. ...
