I am always so impressed by Kayla’s authenticity with both of her shows. She clearly did her homework on Ann Miller and created a three-dimensional, genuine and vulnerable character. I thought the performance was tracing and really took me back in time with just a simple chair, some sound cues and of course Kayla’s captivating performance and writing.... full review

Kayla Boye is a powerhouse performer whose ability to step inside the soul of her characters will astound you, beginning from her intimately revealing portrayal of legendary Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor in 2022 to her current tour-de-force performance as Hollywood and Broadway dancing icon Ann Miller. I enjoyed Kayla's enthusiastic tap dancing and her recounting so many stories about how Ann, starting at age 14, met and danced her way through RKO Studios, MGM, and then took Broadway by storm. I expect this show to win top Fringe honors this year.... full review

Very entertaining show about tap dancing icon Ann Miller. Author and star Kayla Boyd knows her stuff and she also nails Ann Miller’s Texan accent and speaking rhythm. Lots of appreciation for her subject, a well spent hour. ... full review

This hugely enjoyable tale of a hottie hoofer from Hollywood's Golden Age could well dance away with the prize for Best Show of the Fringe. ... full review

Apparently, the A Train traveled from deep in the heart of Texas to Hollywood to Broadway to Sugar Hill in Harlem. So, take the A Train and boog it to see Shake It Away: The Ann Miller story. You’ll hear gorgeous Kayla Boye (as Ann Miller) sing and rhythmically tap dance through a succession of colorful stories told in a perfect 1940s accent, including the chance childhood encounter with Bill "Bojangles" Robinson that changed her life and her late-night showbiz adventures with bosom buddy Lucille Ball. ... full review

What a powerful solo entry at the Hollywood Fringe by triple-threat performer, Kayla Boye! Having previously participated in 2022's HFF as Elizabeth Taylor, this time around, she tackles Hollywood's Golden Era dancer-extraordinaire: Ann Miller. This particular show encompasses bits of Miller's biography with a fair amount of tap dancing and musical theatre numbers. So for those that enjoy her work, this will be a crowd pleaser. With a simple black director's chair on-stage, vibrant lighting design, a sexy leotard/skirt costume and sound design work from Frank Ferrante (as the Auctioneer), this show is a refined, entertaining hour.... full review

Some of my favorite Fringe shows have been Star Tributes for lesser-knowns, like Anthony Newley and bandleader Ina Ray Hutton. This year MGM's Ann Miller gets a quick 45-minute skim of her career---not bad, not notably good. It's framed by the 1970 MGM auction and an unseen Auctioneer, as KAYLA BOYE tells her audience things they probably knew when they walked in and punctuates it by showing off her own tapping talents.... full review

She's so talented, lovely stage presence. I saw her do Elizabeth also. She has a way of embodying these glamous actoress of the past. She can sing, dance, and act effortlessly. Great job!... full review
