I love how Meat included the audience, with empathy and charm. The grandmother character was particularly fleshed out and very lovable. The set design and use of rocks was also a nice way to bring us into the moment and location.
What I didn't like
Nothing.
My overall impression
Meat Bar is an inspiring, creative artist with inexhaustible talent up their sleeve. In Sugar Mud, we see fully imagined characters, who are lively, compassionate, quick-witted and smart. With a brilliant, yet simple set-design, we are transported to the dust bowl where characters crawl out from under dusty rocks to guide us through stories that unfold, in the moment. Not knowing what will come next, we feel safe in the hands of our guide, who cleverly includes the audience in every step of the journey.
