“Sugar Mud” embodies the exquisite beauty that lies among the grotesque wreckage of despair. With razor sharp wit and loving attention to their audience, Maggie “Meat” Beasley is a dynamic performance artist who leaves you feeling seen and cared for within the tornado of this tender, textured, tremendous show.
What I didn't like
This show is blooming into itself, into something truly spectacular. Let it grow.
My overall impression
A sloppy, gloppy romp through the trenches of family lore, biblical gossip, and divorce court purgatory with a sweet streak a mile wide. I want to take a bite out of this show and feel the way it moves between my teeth, gritty and sweet like raw sugar mixed into the dust bowl.
