This show is punk.
This is not a traditional fringe play. It doesn't care if the music sounds good, if the visuals are too overwhelming, if you bother reading the program beforehand, or if it's even an enjoyable experience. In fact, it's more of a live music video AMV on the state of the world than a stage-play.
These are features. Not bugs. The anger, the anxiety, the atmosphere, and most of all, the message is front and center. We are at WORLD'S END.

Lone human holds microphone up to a broken society. The silent 99% become heard through a series of punk raps and emotional spoken word. A salute to Ronin, for calling out the imbalance of the past five years, even more. This show will grip you at your seat for the insight you will gain about what goes on behind closed doors. ...

A surreal journey through current events using poetry, hip hop, and insane visuals. I mean that makes sense, these are insane times. Gatzby Is. is a lot of things, but it is first and foremost unique in it's content and delivery. An absolutely worthwhile effort. ...

All cards on the table… who doesn’t want to be the love child of Jim Morrison, Lin Manuel Miranda, Trent Reznor and Allen Ginsberg? Who doesn’t want to throw out the window whatever conventional one-act they’ve written with it’s pesky characters and story, and instead just go out on a stage and rant into a mic one’s original heightened poetics, a song of frustration with this fallen country, with suburbia, with Time, with the ghost of lost Love, and CREPES and turn it into an experience that pisses in the face of all convention? This is the kind of shit that I could imagine doing when I was 19 years old when I was fully loaded with enough combustible teen angst to power a Pearl Jam tourbus cross-country, but lacked any kind of courage to do ...

An absolutely insane experience that brought me to delirium and then sober reality. The mix of live original raps (which are largely about personal life experiences) with a backdrop of...well...the horrors of the world, perfectly encapsulated what it is like to have your brain split in two halves. The half that is terrified of the world ending, knowing it will, and the half that is focused on everyday experiences and views the self as the main character. Both halves are true and necessary. This experience showed that dichotomy better than most because you FELT what it's like.
I've been down the rabbit hole of how nuts this world is, and this show embodies exactly what it is like to go down that road, and encourages you to go further. ...

Some art is there to entertain, and some exists to inform. "Gatzby Is." can't be bothered with the former and it seems to exist in its own vacuum of words and images that are a slurry of the abstract fusing with our reality in a search for truth and what's real.
And what are we left with? Something that resembles truth? Do we even have access to the truth? What even is it? Crepes are truth. Blazing all day with your buddies as the world crashes down around you... you know that's truth. The great Peter Brook would categorize "Gatzby Is." as Rough Theatre. Not because of its commitment to being unpolished, but because it embraces the informal, spontaneous, and vulgarity of the system. This piece will challenge you, this piece will mess you up...

An artist responding to the times we are living in. A passionate plea for us to wake up; take ownership of our lives and fight those who seek to control and destroy. He had thirty minutes and he did not waste them!...

Travyz is clearly passionate, has a vision and is ambitious with that vision. You leave Gatzby asking a lot of questions about the current state of our world and art in general....
