A Shakespearean take of "The Breakfast Club" with high-value production and dialogue that pays a great homage to the original. This gives a good throwback to the movie while also adding a unique twist and personal creative touch put into the play that made it truly a fascination to watch. ... full review

I knew from the start as an 80's film fanatic I was going to certainly fall in love with The Club Of Broken Fasts. What I didn't know until after watching it last night is how much I would love it, and now I can honestly say this show is one of my favorites this Fringe season. From the incredible ensemble (one of the best casts I've seen this Fringe), to holding true to the classic The Breakfast Club just enough with the beautiful balance of added Shakespeare dialog, to the smart sets interchanged throughout the show, to the infectiously fun storytelling, it was a treat to watch cover to cover. Also, I adored their costumes, and the lighting and sound design was perfectly orchestrated. Well done!!!... full review

What a treat. Phil Gould’s writing is so clever and inventive. Exactly what you would hope for from John Hughes x Shakespeare. The set and costumes evoke all the nostalgia of the film. This show reminded me what makes The Breakfast Club so powerful in the first place- compassion. We are all all of us. I particularly enjoyed the way they fleshed out the principal character. The verse knocked my socks off, but the jokes are accessible enough for anybody to understand. Mason Conrad Judd Nelsons all over the place. Dina Cataldi plays a teen with the perfect amount of cheekiness and mirth. These are some talented kids! Even though they’re all adults. >_< ... full review

Great show! We had so much fun, lots of laughs from the audience. The cast each truly embodied their classic on-screen personas, but with unique Shakespearean twists. They're clearly having fun with the act, creating a vibrant and joyful performance that draws in the audience. Some personal key highlights were Andrew's surprisingly acrobatic dance and monologue, and Bender's overall hilarity throughout the show, but all of the main cast were excellent without exception, along with the principal and janitor who kept the audience impressively engaged. Costumes were a fun mix of medieval mods to 80s high schooler garb, with Claire's and Andrew's standing out, in particular. The chainmail addition to the varsity jacket was a hoot! The s... full review

The Club of Broken Fasts is a wonderful tribute to its source material. The use of Shakespearean language presented classic moments in a new light. The actors felt connected to their characters and thoroughly lived in each moment. As a fan of the movie, you will not be disappointed and you may find new meaning in this classic tale.... full review

What a delightful show and terrific ensemble piece! Come see this show for a fun time. I don't know much about this theater company but it feels like my high school self's dream come true, retellings of modern classics in a Shakespearean style (hence the About the Project written in iambic pentameter).Broken Fasts = Breakfast, The Breakfast Club! It's an interesting concept. ... full review
