The idea for a late night Fringe Talk show is fantastic, and last year and this year Alex Enriquez has shined in this perfect spotlight. Katierose Donohue Enriquez performed also in the show I saw as well, and it was great; I felt just like I was watching the Late Show with David Letterman in the 80s, or something, but with its own authentic spin. It all works because of Enriquez’ comedic intelligence. I love the band as well, and seeing this show is also a great way to learn about a handful of Fringe shows too. I know I’ll be checking out the ones that participated last night. It isn’t all laughs up there either as Enriquez has the interview thing down, he can roll with whatever direction the discussion takes effortlessly, and that is a quality that sets him apart.

My overall impression
There are so many jokes happening within Alex Enriquez’ snappy monologue, sketches, and interviews, but there are also dozens of other hilarious things he is doing in between. He’s a a throwback, classic funny-man perfectly suited for this format, and he always innately knows the exact delivery required for each moment, and then is also so at ease in the moment, that sublime comedy can evolve organically, often completely improvised with his guests. There were more laugh-out-loud moments than I could count.
