Callie Ott and Spencer Weitzel are the heart and soul of this play, bringing chaotic energy to their agonized characters while never forgetting where the love is and always remaining genuine and engaged onstage. Natalie Dressel’s direction is tight and keeps the pace moving briskly while taking the slower moments when it’s necessary. Ben Schwartz’s script is a nice balance of comedy and pathos and contains more than a few surprises.
What I didn't like
Nada.
My overall impression
But what about the dog? “Dog of Carnage” features two dynamic performances from Callie Ott and Spencer Weitzel as a breaking-up couple intent on settling where the dog ends up. Full of surprising twists and deft direction, it truly keeps you guessing all the way up to the lovely final moment.
