I think they actually*did 69 sketches in one hour? I tried to count, but was so caught up in the fun of what this extremely charismatic, sharp cast was throwing down that I stopped counting as I was having too much fun to bother with that.
Loved how they used their stripped-down set and props to the best advantage. I loved the cardboard head props & associated explainers with each!
Tho maybe the chicken head prop toward the end…the performer had it attached to a white hat? I didn’t know what that was on her head. Only later did I think it was maybe supposed to be a chicken sandwich. Maybe do an OBVIOUS fried chicken leg instead? We The USA Colonized audiences are kinda stupid sometimes and may need spoon feeding sometimes…
Also – I know y’all don’t know this being Descendants of USA Colonizers – I found the recurring gravy bit hilarious. White gravy is specifically a South USA thing. Midwest and beyond, “gravy” is something else. What you did worked.
What I didn't like
At times, there was something off about the sound — both recorded sounds and the live mic sounds. That could be due to the acoustics of this space, and not the fault of the performers or production.
HOWEVER, the one thing I was SAFETYGRRWTF about (as a stage manager) was that bit where the performer threw something at the audience “Up” instead of “Down”.
An audience member was hit by that thrown cardboard item. That person hit was fine with/rolled with it, thank Cthulhu.
Show got lucky that they weren’t actually hurt being hit by something a performer threw Up into the audience. PLEASE BE MINDFUL that even a piece of taped-up cardboard can hurt somebody if hurled and hits an audience member in the wrong place.
DO NOTTHROWANYTHINGTOWARDAUDIENCESEATING “UP”. IF YOUMUSTTHROW “FORREASONS” <— and frankly there is NO legit reason to do so THROW IT “DOWN” AT THEFLOOR. Safety safety LAWSUIT safety.
My overall impression
An affable, very fun, highly energetic show from descendants of the people who Lost The Colonies, but they are still bringing the fun!
