A clever story teller doesn't bludgeon you over the head with a message, but lets it rest, take root, and develop on its own. You will laugh in the moment and be moved on the car ride home. The death is in the details, with many vignettes seemingly there for a laugh or a bit, only to see the threads embroidered cohesively by the end of the show.
