What I liked
The dress! How she commanded the audience to do things i wouldn’t expect. The burlesque! The first bat reveal. The fog. The little boy with the Nutella snack.
What I didn't like
The first half was confusing for me, particularly how the little girl is represented, though now knowing what was revealed at the end of the show, I might watch it again and see how things connected better.
My overall impression
In a series of vignettes, Nalini presents dreamlike, seemingly loosely-related characters and creatures inhabiting a hospital. The vibe oscillates from grim to sexy to silly to tender to angry to hilarious. As the show nears the end there are several very impressive, theatrical moments that make your heart absolutely swell. Definitely recommend seeing it, Nalini reveals herself a bit at a time, to be a wonderfully interesting, quietly powerful person.
