What I liked
I love that the show included lots of humor and self awareness. There were many touching moments as well. The relationships depicted were authentic and the performances were electrifying. The BTS team worked well together to transition from scene to scene.
What I didn't like
At the start of the play, it wasn’t clear that this was going to be told in a linear structure. I initially thought the show was going to be a series of vignettes that were not necessarily in chronological order. By the second scene, I understood what was happening and I had that “aha” moment and enjoyed the performances.
My overall impression
La Estrella is a funny, entertaining and poignant story of a woman searching for, finding and finally embracing her identity. The performances are both full of humanity as well as dazzle! No matter who you are, each audience member will come away with a true understanding of being in another person’s (high-heeled) shoes!
