I adore the messaging of this show which simply states: “Music talks if you listen. Music speaks if you sing.” And then, it would go into absurdity, silliness, with a dash of the wacky to boot.
Both Andie and Austin play off each other brilliantly. They have the routine down – Andie is the clown and Austin is the straight man (more like quirky man). He plays the piano and guitar, she is all singing, all quipping, and all connection with the audience.
I loved the characters they portrayed and how they embody different musicians. Also, I just loved leaving the show is such a good mood and full of laughter. Certain songs lingered as I left, such as – “Straight Male Gynocologist,” and “Jerking Off in New York City.” Sigh. Couldn’t you just swoon?!
What I didn't like
Because this is happening during The Fringe, the show MUST start and end on time. Having said that, if that’s my biggest comment, take that as a really good sign.
My overall impression
Hosting a talk show has NEVER been this off-the-wall hysterical! A dynamic duo of singers showcase not only their vocal chops, but their comedy ones as well. And when it comes to testimonial videos… I can only say that each one is a gem of hilarity.
I came into the Yard Theatre not knowing anyone affiliated with Music Talks. However, I left knowing that Andie and Austin have a singular boffo presence in the world of song-writing, spoof, and ingenuity. This is a show I most strongly recommend!
