First off, upon entering the theatre, you see a line of the most delightful cows in front of a wall. The costumes were udderly perfect, and the sound effects were spot on (shudder). This is a solid 2 hander (with perfectly executed – pun not intended- extras) with clever writing, fun acting choices, and a solid reminder of some of the lovely and tricky parts of living life.
What I didn't like
such a silly little thing, but one of the hoof-toes (fingers) was floppy and distracting. There were maybe a couple tiny timing moments that were likely just first preview jitters and working out the kinks.
My overall impression
Sometimes you need animals to tell you about the human experience. In Betsy & Patty find out, it’s cows waiting in line (for something that must be good ?!), chatting about life and holding a mirror up for us. And fringe bonus- it’s a tight 45! Insightful, witty, and pertinent, this dramatic cow-medy (eh? eh?) is a delight to experience. If you enjoy Animal Farm, watch this play.
