What I liked
The Player 2 song was the certified banger of the show. So catchy, charming, and memorable!
What I didn't like
I really enjoyed getting to see the main character’s backstory at the arcade and love for the woman who created Centipede. That was the moment I felt most connected to the main character’s journey, and I found myself hungry for more about that.
My overall impression
One Up is a very cleanly directed, highly polished musical! The 1980s world building is on point. James Beardsley and Erik Olson were particularly brilliant as they shine in comedic supporting roles with tremendous heart. Watching this show feels like witnessing an old school musical theater classic.
