What I liked
Everyone was well cast and charming in their roles. The production design and costumes were a lot of fun – especially the undersea elements. Early on I was hoping that we got to see the undersea game, and when we finally did it was much cooler than I expected. The singing was good overall, with some really great harmonies. The best moments came when the full cast was harmonizing and dancing together.
What I didn't like
It was sometimes hard to hear the singing over the backing music. They used a microphone in one or two songs and that sounded so much better. Maybe that could be incorporated in more songs?
Some of the characters and story beats were a little simplistic – it worked fine for this story but wouldn’t have minded seeing a little more depth to the villain or the supporting characters.
I also wanted to see a scene from the fighting game :D but the sound effects were funny.
My overall impression
This was great! Impressive production values for a Fringe show, talented cast, good pacing and a crowd pleasing story that put a smile on my face.
