Loved the score and the fun cast. Technically aspects were flawless. It felt like at times I wasn’t really watching a fringe show, but something I would see at a much larger type of venue.
What I didn't like
Super fun, no notes!
My overall impression
One Up is utterly joyful, with a great score, fun musical numbers, and an energetic cast; it’s a fun romp from start to finish. Despite being set in the late 80s during the 8-bit video game era, One Up is surprisingly current in how it depicts the game industry’s poor treatment of its female developers, an issue that still heavily plagues the industry today. It reminds us of the efforts women have made in the past, and provides a hopeful outlook for the future.
