I know when I see a production of R+J that I like because while watching it I will begin to still down memory lane back to the days when I played Mercurio in high school. Such fun memories .
The shows I tend to like are the ones that inspire and remind me of my love for the arts. This show did exactly that.
For having only so much time to rehearse, the actors really played well with one another. Some great energy – special shoutout to the Nurse from today!
What I didn't like
Not an actual note because I’m sure this was done for time, but I love the Queen Man speech and I was really enjoying the Mercutio in today’s production! I know they would’ve killed it!
My overall impression
Despite living in a world with all the adaptations of Romeo and Juliet you could ask for, I was actually looking forward to watching a production of one of the Bard’s more famous pieces and with a such an ambitious premise.
This is R+J done in 60 minutes. One might worry that the material might suffer due to such a limited run time but, in practice, the smaller window brought out an infectious energy from the actors that was compelling and so much fun to watch.
