What I liked

I liked that the characters were fully realized (in the writing as well as the performances) and attention was paid to the period the play was set in. There was some nice scene work between the actors.

What I didn't like

I had a little trouble with the time passages. I wondered why the props (food, letters, photo frame, etc) used at the top of the show and in subsequent scenes, remained in the same spots on the kitchen table until almost the end of the play even when it was a new day or night. I was distracted by the handling of the baby, which sometime was paid too much attention and other times carelessly or none at all. The stage transitions could be tighter in some cases, especially one, during an obvious costume change. Make sure the costumes are zipped up and the hair is out of the women’s faces prior to making their entrances.

My overall impression

Overall, this show was well done. The performances brought the story to life and the set was nicely designed. The costumes added the right touch for the period. There’s potential for this piece, once given more time and space to breathe. It could benefit from tightening it up and more attention to other details.
