What I liked

I really enjoyed the comedic elements of the show, from the censored shower scene to the cat coming to life, it was hilarious!

I loved the music of the show! The cat’s songs really stood out, as did intrusive thoughts. And the pianist did amazing!

The story is beautiful, relatable, and whimsical while still being very grounded.

The acting was phenomenal. I heard it was the roommates first show, and he was great! Amazing voice.

The sets are amazing for having to set up/take down so quickly. Yall really hustled and it worked really well in the space.

Oh, and the multimedia! So well done and used, like the influencer joke about expertise… just perfection.

What I didn't like

I think some of the ballads might need a pass on lyrics just to land a little harder, although I loved all the music in general, they’re just less ‘sticky’

I honestly just want more… I want a song about Ben’s religious upbringing and current religious experience (bc when he starts praying, it’s a little confusing to potentially off putting). I want to see the Viking’s past, even just in one song, to meet his lover would be lovely (also to see those scenes acted on stage somehow, as it was a little hard to follow that song/what events transpired).

I’m just excited to see it all expanded, as I truly think it could be a full length musical

My overall impression

I loved the premise and I know someone in the show who is talented, so I expected to at least be entertained by the concept, if nothing else… but I was floored by how good this really was! From the jump, it’s funny, with good music. As the characters grow and the story unfolds, it’s an entertaining show across the board. Our entire theater was laughing throughout! But what surprised me most was how heartfelt and warm it is. It really is an emotional trip with Ben guiding us through his process, but also these character’s journeys.
