The music was incredibly catchy, “Intrusive Thoughts” was great! And I especially loved the subtle use of “Be Thou My Vision” as a recurring motif. It added emotional depth and grounded the story in it’s context. The story kept me engaged throughout; I was never bored for a moment. And Phoebe? Absolutely the best. (Also, now I really want to see the play the character was working on and kept talking about. Who doesn’t love some gay 12th century monks?)
What I didn't like
The story and character arcs moved at a brisk pace. At times, too brisk. Sven’s development in particular felt a bit rushed. I imagine there were logistical constraints, but I found myself wishing the show were longer to allow more space for the emotional shifts to be earned. A little more breathing room would have made the resolution feel even more powerful.
My overall impression
Fun, witty, and emotionally moving. I went in not knowing what to expect, but every element of the production, from the writing and music to the set design, acting, and vocals, was genuinely excellent. The show felt wildly inventive; I’d describe it as [Title of Show] meets Assassin’s Creed meets Jungian psychoanalysis. It was tightly written, consistently engaging, and full of surprises. I was truly impressed and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I’d absolutely see it again.
