I loved how personal it was, and how vulnerably Ben wrote about his struggle to find meaning and purpose in his work. The visit from his ancestor was imaginative and an interesting way to delve into the topic of legacy. And Ben’s arrival at the importance of his teaching art to kids was really touching and effective. I loved the songs.
What I didn't like
From a story standpoint, I think the revelation of Ben’s ancestor also being gay came too early and quickly. So it didn’t appear to matter until he needed it to, which made it feel conveniently overlooked at first. Ben’s character is the only one that felt like it had a clear arc. I think he could look at the other characters and see how to give them a place to begin and end that is a little more dynamic, too.
