I came in off the street with an hour to kill and had no idea what I was seeing, which I think is the perfect way to see this show. At it’s core it felt like a very clear drama about an emotionally volatile father figure (played with beautiful wide eyed anxiety) who runs a failing circus act, and his violent, but sensitive gorilla. I kinda loved the emotional stakes. I loved that the acting was so deadly serious in such a ridiculous premise. At the beginning, I was actually a little scared because of the intensity of the performance. But I quickly acclimated and laughed along.
I thought the rapid onstage costume/ character changes were hilarious. I loved the strip tease, the motivational movie monologue and all the delightful audience interaction bits.
I also just loved how visual it was. I was impressed at how a few costumes, some props and some LED lights built a world in this tiny black box space.
I liked how weird it was, and how I couldnt at any point predict where it was going.
I’m so glad I stumbled across this weird fun show!
What I didn't like
nothing
My overall impression
I thoroughly enjoyed this weird, colorful, unhinged clown show. The less you know going in the better, just see it :)
