What I liked

His physicality. The tiny little outfit that goes on top of the gorilla suit. The way that the characters he popped back and forth between were differential. The Independence Day Monologue. Feeling like I was part of the show. Being part of an audience that was binding together to try and communicate with the strange gorilla and his arguably even stranger Human Father. This is a show of stamina and stupidity laced together with really clever little technical choices (like the sound design in the banana gun moment and the tiny little outfit that is pinned on the gorilla outfit).

My overall impression

This is the story of a father and son. The father runs a circus. The son is a 2,000 gorilla. Both are played by Jason. Laughter from beginning to end. Jason gives a full-throated, 900% energetic performance as both the Circus Guy Father and the Gorilla Son. This show is for people who like to be close to wildness. He gets close. He has a need for the audience and you won’t be able to look away. He captivates you to stay super super present with him and commits to a kind of stupidity that is delightful. It’s really awesome to feel connected to a performer in the way you’re invited to in this one.
