What I liked

The vocal arrangements were to die for! The cast was also very charming and utterly competent and confident. This is also the best I’ve seen Spencer Frankeberger – what a fantastic voice he has!

What I didn't like

The harmonies were so tight, but having one solo soprano voice (as strong as she is!) tended to overpower some of the lower harmonies. I was DYING to hear the basso part more. When she jumped down to lower notes, though, the overall blend was much stronger. I think this could be alleviated in future productions by gender swapping one of the male roles with an alto or mezzo voice… oh okay I guess I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE. ;)

My overall impression

This show is screaming for a production at a local pub, cruise ship, or Ren Faire! I was dying to be on a barstool with a mug of ale during the whole performance. Such a great showcase of the best sea shanties – wonderful opportunities to sing along to the hits (drunken sailor! blow the man down!), as well as learn some new-to-you songs.
