I loved the direction of this piece! Drew Droege was ON it with this one and the specificity of the staging kept the pace strong. Though the show is about a hard reality, not once were we ever plunged into the depths of despair. Instead, I was on the edge of my seat wondering, “well what did he do next?!”. My partner was rocking in his chair with laughter. Hal, you’re funny as hell man. Congratulations on a great show!
What I didn't like
Do it again!
My overall impression
He pulled it off y’all. For a show with content that could have easily leaned it another way, Hal manages to turn “tragedy” into comedic GOLD. It’s not a trauma play. It’s not therapy on stage. It’s a hard, honest, and HILARIOUS look at the man that raised him. Thanks for sharing this with us Hal.
