The ride we went on as we got to know Hal’s illustrious father. The ups and downs – the chaotic lifestyle he forced on his family. The overall story arc. The goofy and sweet side that Hal took away from living with a sociopath. Proving that “Every dog has it’s day.” Even gambling addict criminals who scorn hygiene. It was unique, compassionate and really funny.
What I didn't like
Everything worked. I could’ve watched another 20 minutes and would have loved to learn how Hal was affected at different points in his life when the shit hit the fan. Basically it was so good I wanted more. Hal’s final send off of his dad was funny, touching and poignant. Against all odds, made me wish I could’ve known his father.
My overall impression
What an amazing show. And what a male dominated audience. It was nice to see so many guys out laughing and supporting theater.
Hal is an amazing story teller and Drew is unparalleled as a director. It was one of my favorite shows of all!
