The writing was very sharp & clever, and the production made great use of multimedia, from still photos to graphics to video. The narrative was bookended nicely by a heartfelt anecdote that, even after all of the insanity Hal had us re-live, resonated emotionally. One can’t help but relate to Hal’s journey & feel that performing this show has helped him process this chapter of his life.
What I didn't like
No notes, truly. Insofar as one man shows performed on a mostly bare stage are performed, this one was just tremendous. It was never boring nor predictable, and was easy to lose oneself in the narrative.
My overall impression
A tour de force performance by Hal recounting his lived experiences. Meticulously-crafted, well-paced, with many big laughs throughout, JERSEYDEVIL will surprise you, even if you know what to expect going in.
