My overall impression

The Real Housekeepers of Studio City is a clever, fun piece of musical theater. I’m still singing “Shake, Shimmy, and Groove It” a week later. The 60 minute show is jam packed with humorous songs and a breezy nostalgia that doesn’t get too sentimental, too self-aware, or too proud of itself. The show just wants to be fun, and it succeeds wildly. While the entire cast is strong, Gabby Sanalitro is the standout as both Rosie and Consuela. Her spot-on impressions and comedic timing are indispensable, and I hope she is part of the show in its future runs. Lorie Moore also delivers strong performances as Florence and Nell. The show has a blast with it’s upbeat, comedic songs, but its few slow serious songs seem a little bland in comparison. Aside from this small quibble, the show is loads of fun.
